My biggest discover this month! The LAMBERTS finally are coming!

I have worked on my elusive LAMBERT's of Reading, MA., for seven long years. My 5-great grandmother was MARY LAMBERT. She was born in Reading, MA., in 1734. Her birth records were listed in both Reading and Wakefield, MA. Problematic was that the Reading record listed her mother as MARY. There was only one LAMBERT family living in Reading in this era. THOMAS LAMBERT and ELIZABETH NICHOLS who had a child a child before MARY and others afterward. This left me in a kind of limbo for years. UNTIL last week. I happened to go into the GOOGLE NEWS ARCHIVE and discovered two amazing posts to the Boston Evening Transcript (a most valuable genealogy column was carried in this paper for years).

I first discovered a post by (J.S.R.) my 2-great granduncle JAMES SULLIVAN RUSSELL (my 2-great grandfather's older brother) who was an accomplished genealogy researcher. I find items by him from time to time.
He (J.S.R) was born in Carlisle, MA., in 1807 and was school teacher in Lowell for something like 45 years. JAMES sent in an item on our LAMBERT family of Reading on Aug. 1, 1899, AND a little over one week later on Aug. 9, 1899, a follow up item appeared giving information from a family bible that lists my MARY's birth and death date (that I didn't) have.
This item was singed M.D.S. (wish I knew who this was)

These two items squarely place MARY as the daughter of THOMAS LAMBERT and ELIZABETH (not MARY) NICHOLS. I have been finding tons of their descendants ever since. I will update my website this weekend with all the new information.

Here are the wonderful posts from the even more wonderful Boston Evening Transcript:
